We used to get a beer from Paris...I haven't seen it in ages...something brasseurs de Paris...perhaps the one pictured in this link. Has anyone seen it lately?

I think you're going to have to duck into an Irish-themed pub to get the kind of draft you're looking for. Alternatively, spend a few days in Belgium.

Although there are other styles of beer every now & then, most of the time I experienced only lagers on tap. Not my favorite either, as I prefer English real cask ales. However, when in Rome...

Kronenbourg 1664 is pretty good for a lager and was served just about everywhere we went.

My favorite is Dab; more hearty than most and widely available. BTW, the big name beers on tap taste much better in Europe than in the US; different formulations I am told. Or maybe just lacking the chemicals they put in for longer life of imported beers available here.

DAB is brewed, I believe, in Dortmund, Germany. The local joke is that DAB stands for Deutsche Arbeiter Bier (German Workers Beer).

Well, I am the OP and I do appreciate everyone's "answer" to my question. Don't think I'll be drinking much beer in France. Maybe we'll find that Irish Pub during the week in Paris or happen upon a good German beer near Alsace.

In all honesty you won't have any problem. Guinness is sold as a premium brand in almost all bars. Most will also stock Newcastle Brown and Bass*. These will usually be bottled, and will cost a few bob more than you may be used to (beer is expensive in France)

*Go and look at Manet's Bar at the Folies Bergere. There is only one recognisable bottle on the bar - it's an English beer. Plus ca change.....
