I have no idea if we just had good luck, but we have flown Olympic many times, across Europe and lots of inter-island and Athens-island flights, with no more problems than other airlines.

We flew on Olympic from Athens to Paris in 1982. We met a British couple while in the islands who said that there was no way that they would take Olympic. I'm a rather nervous flyer but that flight went fine and the food was pretty good. I well remember flying over the Swiss Alps on that flight!

WE flew Aegean and Olympic inter island in april this year. All flights on time, the Aegean plane very clean, new and well maintained, Olympic aircraft...very tired ! The hostess's on Aegean were absolutely gorgeous !! Olympic ladies looked.... lets say.. experienced ;) The final analysis both companies got us to and from where we were gaoing to without drama.

Some the responses are quite ridiculous. Olympic Airlines safety record is much bnetter than most Airlines. Its very unfair to taint a whole airline for one bad flight back in 1977 . I think we all have had some bad stories on any airline. Also the Greek tradition for clapping on landing has nothing to do with the safety of the flight but rather a custom [ an appreciative gesture] which is applied to any airline.Greek pilots are amongst the best in the world. If I would be staying away from any Airline it would be, unfortunately , the USA ones.

Clapping on landing is an interesting custom. I wonder if it applies to all Olympic flights. Anyone have recent experience with this on OA flights?

I've never flown on Olympia but everytime I fly to Puerto Rico, the passengers (mostly Puerto Ricans) always clap upon landing. This must be a tradition in some cultures.
