EmilyMB, there's no need to be nervous about conversing here. Just remember that if some people act like jackasses, that's them, not you. [Of course, things could change if you decided to act like a jackass!]

My two guidebooks comment was made in jest. Americans often don't understand my humour (they can't even spell it correctly). It's partly because of such cultural differences that we travel -- or tour.

Thanks, Padraig :) I had an English boyfriend for awhile that continued to try and "fix" my spelling. I had the biggest laugh when he came to the states and asked for a fag. Didn't correct him, found it amusing. And calling everyone a Yankee- I lived in Virginia. Ah, memories... That relationship just didn't last, go figure.

Guess I am a jackass :)

Incidentally, the currency in Croatia is the kuna, not the koruna as AAFrequentFlyer seems to think.

I stand corrected....

yes and the ferry timetables have to watched too esp if you have connecting flights to make from the mainland
what one computer reads is totally different from another agency
saw one girl get stuck on hvar..missed the ferry back to split ...she was pointing to the times on the brochure yetthese didnt correlate with the times the last ferry left according to the tourist bureaus printout
