Jah
What part of 'shalt not' did you not understand? Gods People were commanded NOT to sacrifice their children. Those that did, were cursed
Leviticus 18:21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 20:2 Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
Leviticus 20:3 And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.
Leviticus 20:4 And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not:
Leviticus 20:5 Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.
1 Kings 11:7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.
2 Kings 23:10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
Jeremiah 32:35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Sadly there is not much point in reasoning with someone who REALLY thinks that the often poorly translated/interpreted writings of people who lived long ago are the "word of god".
BTW I personally really like the King James version of the bible as a work of literature but I certainly would never conceive of attempting to live my life according to it (especially since it is somewhat confusing and contradictory and seriously out-of-date and rather savage in its' prescribed punishments:
"If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel." Deuteronomy 22:22
“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery." Luke 16:18

Too late, FrankS. You already said it was just to punish children for the sins of the parents. You gave yourself away as a worshiper of Moloch, even if you prefer to dress up your idol by calling it Jesus.

jah,
You arent drinking that $3 wine again are you? That stuff will rot your brain.
Listen
My earlier comment had nothing to do with a death penalty, it dealt with the Canons of Dort stating that Adam and Eve had children that inherited their sin nature. At which point alan and his low double digit IQ concluded it was a 'punishment' not nature passing that trait on. That error was topped by your pernicious desire (in a drunken haze?) to further defraud it as 'child sacrifice'
Deuteronomy 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

Yes, FrankS, please do continue arguing in favor of your Moloch-cult as you have been doing. Your comments are highly persuasive.
alanRow: "Punishing the children for the crimes of the parents - not exactly justice."
you: "It is just, a seed will reproduce after itself corrupt after corrupt and good after good. A weed can not produce good fruit"
And now, after you have been revealed as a Moloch-worshiper, you have the effrontery to put the word "punishment" in scare quotes. What hypocrites the Moloch-worshipers are.
By the way, your comments about cheap wine are highly amusing. I refrain from speculating as to what the worshipers of Moloch drink.

"We will keep our food bank stocked here in Chicago if you need help"
Rude and uncalled for. OC trusted you with his personal information. Not very kind of you and very unlike what Christ called you to do.
Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

Why did the Navy Yard memorial Service on CNN just now begin with a reading from Psalm 23? Do you really believe it was read in vain?>
Of course - the power of prayer has been scientifically tested and a third party praying for anyone else has never been shown to work - like in praying for someone to get better if sick - however personal prayer can produce a placebo effect - in that person's own mind.
So Frank yes, science says, such prayer is in vain as is all your delusional devotions, etc.
Wake up Frank and smell reality and quick wallowing in your delusions - THERE AIN'T NO GOD so yes all your foolish Bible quoting is just plain idiotic IMO - using the Bible to prove your religion - that fallacious arguing.

Maybe your childishness will convince the OP that the innocent question from the American tourist wasnt so bad?>
It was bad - bad bad bad and you are talking about childishness - believing that crapola that Adam lived to be about 1,000 years old - the baloney about the Noah's Ark holding two of every animal, including Tyrannasaurus Rex' and other dinasours and two of every wild beat - man what an ark ride that must of been - where did the giant whales and squid sleep in your ark - and on and on - you dare call anyone childish with your simple childish beliefs!
That's a good one!
Grow up and think like a rationale adult not some silly child swallowing every stupid thing that is told to it.

Recently a Falun Gong rally in Ann Arbor when I was down there recently to the Meeeechigan beating Notre Dame football game - a rally by this Chinese cult where i engage a professor - allegedly a prof he said - and I was shocked to learn that he and Falun Gong do not either believe in Evolution, saying the Earth was just several thousand years old - so Americans are the only daft people to believe such impossible drivel - yup throw out the 99.99% evidence supporting Evolution in favor of the .001% of things that may not click.

FrankS - really you have gone much further in this thread than I ever thought possible. what a load of twaddle.
by comparison, the excitable gentleman who was so shocked by a spot of science looks positively benign.

Gordon:
The Scottish Enlightment wasn't widely adopted in the Highlands and it was the tenants from the Highlands which settled the US, particularly the South.
I'm not going to join the fray in the rest of the discussion but there are Scots (or their descendents) on both sides of the religous spectrum.

This thread is a lot of fun. Do have one point to add:
Falun Gong is a kind of New Age religion. They do their own variant of yoga type positions for their health. The Chinese government got very upset when so many people began practicing it in the parks and public places, and labeled it a cult and drove it underground, putting many of them in prison. I know people in it. The religion is not really my thing, but they are decent people. The cult label is ridiculous.
