Do London hotels provide umbrellas for guests?

I've stayed in some 3* hotels that were not "posh" that provided umbrellas to guests in Europe, it isn't really that odd.
I always take a small foldable umbrella when traveling, a hood doesn't cut it, I don't want to be rained on in my face all day. Is this really that big a burden, to carry a small umbrella in your tote bag? And all the hotels I've stayed at that do have umbrellas, have those big ones that can't be folded, and I don't want to carry them around all day, anyway.

And look at the problem caused by the umbrella in EM Forster's Howards End!
If you stay in a suite @ the world's poshest hotels (The Oriental, The Peninsula, Le Crillon), an umbrella usually is found in a cupboard near the door.
My cousin has a duplex in the Sherry-Netherland and I see VIPs in the lobby with SN umbrellas.
When you are paying 12K a night for a suite, an umbrella is not a lot to ask for.
My sister attended the funeral of an American senator and she told me that his ex-wife exited the limo with a Ritz Carlton umbrella.
So much to-do over a brolly.

There are no absolutes here despite what many have said.
Our last stay we were on a budget so we stayed at the Grovesnor Hotel atop Victoria Station. It's not a bad place for the price. There was an umbrella in our room.
Your best bet, if you are truly concerned, is to contact the hotel and ask.
