Do Italian women where cargo pant?

Hi all. I was just wondering if women in Italy are seen in cargo pants? You know old navy style, slightly baggy. I plan on bringing more fitted capris to be sure, but I really love my cargo pants. However, I have no desire to look like an american bumpkin. I will be leaving in May and it is a backpacking trip for a college travel writing course. any tips on what to bring so I can look as chic as possible despite living out of a backpack?

No, they aren't in fashion. Skirts were in fashion last summer as well as fitted capris.

If you feel comfortable and enjoy wearing them, bring them anyway. No one will care because you are and will look like a tourist no matter what you do.

If you really want to look "chic"..then DITCH the backpack; if you want to go over there and enjoy yourself, learn and see a lot, forget about what others are wearing and wear what is comfortable.

And if you have a big old butt and fat legs please do not wear fitted capri pants.

Don't worry about what other people are wearing or may be thinking about what you are. Wear what you feel happy in.

Do you know anybody in Italy?

No, they do not. But American students do.

Sorry, I'm going to disagree with the above posters. Not sure about this year, but last, YES. Saw alot of younger Italian women , and a few wearing cargo pants, but with heels or boots. In fact bought a cool pair in Rome.

Heels with cargo pants - tee hee hee

There was a style of pants out last yeat - not unrelated to the cargo - but with elasticated ankles - and yes - some ill advised people wore them - but they were about 16 and 50 lbs. I'm just imagining some sloppy LL Bean cargos with a stiletto heel. Oh, I fogot, the americans don't bring heels on holidays....

No, Italian women don't wear Cargo pants - unless they are skinny 19 year old students who have spent a summer in the States.

And unless you are Audrey Hepburn - do not do the fitted capri pants either

laartista Jan 22nd, 2007 05:44 AM

Only on 19 year olds-Yeah, I think NOT!Oh please, I love the passe fashion advice given on this board. Wear what you want. If you followed all the advice here you'de be in polyester slacks and twin sets!

lawchick Jan 22nd, 2007 05:54 AM

Again - the "wear what you want" brigade is out in style. People are asking for advice. They know they can waer what they want, but somedays they might like to do something different.

Whatever you wear will create a certain impression. The key issue is: do you care?

Do Italian women where cargo pant?
Yes they are very popular as pajamas (in light fabrics)

"And if you have a big old butt and fat legs please do not wear fitted capri pants."

What about skipping the vacation and just getting liposuction this year? (not directed at the OP who has voiced no concerns with her body)

nytraveler Jan 22nd, 2007 09:43 AM

What do you mean by women? Young girls may wear anything - but I haven;t seen cargo pants much. And on adult women - unless you are truly slender and chic - cargo pants are really hard to pull off - if you're even the tiniest bit plump all those extra pockets and folds etc - really exaggerate it.

Why not just wear attractive, well-fitting pants (not super tight but not droopy or sloppy either)?

SeaUrchin Jan 22nd, 2007 09:45 AM

If they where the pants too often will they where them out? Wear do the Italian women where these pants? I am confused.

fishee Jan 22nd, 2007 09:50 AM

Or skipping liposuction and taking another English course?

laartista Jan 22nd, 2007 09:55 AM

Geez Fishee. Ease up on the OP. Ever hear of a thing called a TYPO!
