Maybe I'm just not in a great mood today, but I see a total of three possible answers to your question:

1) All Italian girls like all American Guys

2) No Italian girls like any American guys

3) Some Italian girls like some American guys.

Anyway I look at it, anyone with an IQ over about 15 should be able to figure out that the only logical answer is #3.

I'm only speaking from my direct personal experience, as I'm sure you are too!

I completely agree with BTilke.

Many European women like American men (not boys, mind you)....and the farther East you go, the more true it is.

How true, SloJan...

My comment on cooking was misconstrued...I mean American men are so lavish with compliments on how Italian women cook (no comments that Mamma's cooking is much better). Although I think most men, by the time they're 30 at least, learn to make two or three "seduction meals"--just enough to convince women they know they're way around the kitchen (beyond the outdoor grill of course) but not enough to put dinner on the table every day of the week.

I know Italian housing prices are high (Milan's prices are awful), but if women are able to strike out on their own despite the prices, then the men should to...except for the stay-at-home incentives provided by adoring, housekeeping Mammas.

However, as a young guy, john doesn't have to worry. If he's a nice guy with a good sense of humor, interested in the girls' opinions, asks their advice about shopping, and isn't a total embarrassment on the dance floor, he should do fine. (what happens when he gets back to the U.S. and can't easily find American college girls who effortlessly dress like fashion models, speak at least two languages, have a sophisticated sparkle, can cook gourmet meals and know more than he does about wine, well...that's another chapter...)

Well my experiences have been much different, I have never found it a problem to date Italian women, in fact my wife is Italian. I was stationed in Italy as a member of the US Navy JAG Corps on my first assignment, and dated several Italian women before I met my wife.

I would say I am above average looking, but nothing more than that, not of Italian descent, and not a Catholic. Her family was a bit skeptical at first, but when they found out I was an officer and an attorney, they didn't seem to mind.

Jt- are you still JAG, or have you gone to the private sector?
