Do I need reservations in Vienna?
I'd like to see the horses practice - or even better yet - a show. I'd also like to hear the boy's choir. My husband and I plan to visit Vienna December 4th-8th. Should either of these attractions be available and will I need reservations? How do I find out about special attractions at that time of year? Thanks for any help you can give me.

It looks like there is a performance of the VBC on 12/8/02 (see http://www.wsk.at/english/termine_e/termine_main.asp?thema=Austria).

Check out this website for info on the Spanish Riding School: http://www.spanische-reitschule.com/english/Eventse.htm

The following websites may also be of some help:
http://www.nethotels.com/events/english/Events.asp?Rekursiv=Y&_P=1&_max=18&Group=7
http ://www.virtualvienna.net/aroundvienna/aroundvienna.html

As the Boy's Choir and Spanish Riding School are two of the top events in Vienna, I would highly recommend reservations or advance ticket purchase.

Shirley, I am going in October, and barely got reservations for the choir concert (Friday afternoons) and can't get them for the horse show without going through a ticket broker for about 90E each. We tried to make reservations in APRIL! So, start now! We are going to not try to see the Lippizaner show on Sunday, but instead catch a practice on Saturday morning (much cheaper, and fits our schedule better). The websites in Betty's post are what I used.

Also note that if you want to hear the choir sing at mass on Sunday, you need tickets. We are having trouble getting reservations there too...apparently it is too early! We'll try again next month (about 12 weeks before the trip) and keep trying weekly until they get tired of us and sell us tickets! Note that for mass, there are only about 10 balcony seats where you can actually see the choir instead of just hear them.

Hope this helps!
Anne

Thanks to all of you. I had no idea how terrific and helpful the replies would be. I was fearful that I was showing my ignorance by posting the question in the first place. You have definately made my day - and made the post worthwhile. Thanks!
