Do I need a visa?
 

I'm planning a trip for the middle of July that will take me to Italy, Spain, France, and the UK. Do I need any type of visa to gain access to those countries?

That depends on your nationality. if you are a US citizen then no you don't need a visa.

Foolhardy? Absolutely not. You could do a quick-hits tour taking in London, Paris, Rome, Florence, and Barcelona within that time-frame. You won't see everything, but to each their own style of travel.

You just need to make sure that you are rigorous in your planning, are accurately estimating things like travel time, and are aware that such an itinerary may mean missing some sites in each city. But, as long as you do the research, it is not as off the wall as some would suggest.

UniversalExports, you can plan any kind of trip you want and find support from someone, but may I ask why you're planning a trip like this as opposed to one where you can slow down a bit? Have you priced (and booked!) the budget airline connections? If you were going to train everywhere, have you added up how many hours that will entail?

foolhardy? Not at all -- IF you mainly enjoy airports, train stations, airport security, sleeping on over night trains, packing and unpacking - and don't care if you see much in each place . . . . . .

I have the flights for the first week booked. The only problem is the flight leaving Venice is 9 am.

Where are you going in each of these countries and how long are you staying in each place. I'm curious about how you chose what to see in each country.

Four countries in 2 weeks is too much for me but plenty of people take escorted tours that do the same thing and they love the tours. Everyone has their own way of traveling.

Venice for three days, Barcelona for three days, then I have to make my way up to London somehow for the following week. Paris and London are cities I'm familiar with, so I don't feel like I have to the popular things - I don't have to go to the Louvre or the tower. I really just want to hang out, meet people.
