What's "moronic" about the immense risks the submariners have taken or the claims Russia is making on the mineral resources of the continental shelf?
The United States is making the same claim. It simply lacks the commitment to do anything about it, preferring to carry on geting its energy supplies from flaky states in the Middle East.

Flanner, are you aware that Canada is the USA's number ONE oil supplier?
As to those "flaky states" in the Middle East..are you by any chance referring to the one(s) created by Britain????

They were created when Britain was the colonial power and of course were once part of the Ottoman Empire.
The new imperial power seems to be making an even worse mess.
That part of the world has seen empire after empire, Alexander the Great, Attilla the Hun, the Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire and now the American Empire.
Happy is the nation that has no history.

The ONLY "imperialists" in the US these days are Bush and company and the people here who "believe" in them.
Unfortunately, they haven't yet figured out that the sun has definitely set on all the others.
I wonder where Britain gets its "energy" and why it costs so much?
