Do I need a car in Eastern Sicily?

Hello
Flying in and out of Catania in July and splitting 8 days between Siracusa and Taormina. Initially had planned to rent a car but with car prices so crazy, re-thinking if we need a car for the whole trip, or if maybe we just rent a car in Siracusa (to explore beaches, Ragusa or Noto) and use trains in between cities. Do we need a car in Taormina?

Have the following tentative itinerary:

July 6 - arrive in the evening in Catania
July 7 - half day explore Catania > drive or train to Siracusa
July 8 - explore Siracusa
July 9 - Calamosche or another beach in the area
July 10 - Ragusa or Noto + a beach along the way
July 11 - train or drive to Taormina
July 12 - explore Taormina
July 13 - day at Isola Bella
July 14 - Mt Etna+wineries
July 15 - fly home

Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

You do not need a car for the itinerary you describe. For Siracusa, stay in Ortigia. Take trains, buses.
