Do I have enough time for layover on trip to Rome?
I'm starting to second guess myself on something.
I'm flying from Washington, DC to Rome, via Newark. I have 2 1/2 hours in between flights in Newark. I'm meeting up with my group there. Should I maybe switch my flight to an earlier one (the Dulles to Newark one), or does 2 1/2 hours seem like enough time?

it's plenty of time if your flight arrives on time, but if it doesn't, how would you proceed without the group? would you be o.k. with that?
make plans in case such a thing should happen, or give yourself even more time between flights.

I usually allow 3 hours for transfers (so think 2-1/2 is close enough). But I travel solo or with 1 person. It's the "meeting up with my group" that gives me pause in your situation. What if your plane is late? What if there plane is late? Where will you meet? If you don't meet them do you get on the next flight yourself? I am guessing it won't be a problem at all, but I'd have a "Plan B" in mind that you all agree on.
Even if you had a longer time for the transfer I think this is important.
