Is it possible to recharge the battery on a ditigial (USA is home)camera in Europe?

Depends on the battery and the charger. My Oly uses standard NiMh AA batteries, which I charged with a dual voltage charger (most are) and plug adapters. I'm not sure about cameras that use proprietary batteries, but would suggest checking the camera's website or calling your local camera store. If the question is digital or 35mm, I took 2000 digital pictures on my last 3 week European trip, something I never would have done buying film. Unless you're a professional photographer, digital is the way to go.

I always bring both my digital (have the ability to recharge with proper electric socket adaptor in Europe) and my 35mm (point-and-shoot). Both are light and compact enough not to be a burden and, more importantly, we have a backup just in case one breaks down or is lost.

Besides, I love the prints that comes out of my Leica minilux point-shoot camera (I don't mind the extra load of filems that I have to carry); while my wife can go nuts with the digital and shoot to her hearts content.

If your camera has proprietary batteries, look on the charger. On the bottom of mine ( an Olympus Stylus 300) it says Input: 100-240V, which means it is dual voltage-- all you need is an adapter plug to charge it in Europe.

I love digital! I'll never buy film again!

I travel with an extra set of rechargeable batteries. It's cheap "insurance" to assure having my camera ready to go.

I have a Canon digital camera, with proprietary batteries, purchased in the US. My charger is also dual-voltage (and marked as such,) like Marcie's. All I need for Europe is the appropriate plug adaptor.
