Distance to Sorrento

Hi Everyone,

I am planning on staying in Crowne Plaza in CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA for 3 nights. Wanted to check out the Amalfi Coast (Sorrento, Positano, Capri. I was wondering how the commute is from the hotel. Is it easily accessible or really far? Any help I can get would be greatful. Thanks.

Amit.

If you have a car, there is no problem.
Even better to visit Amalfi Coast because you can reach it driving on the hill until Agerola and then go down and visit Furore, the little town of murales, of the great wines "Gran Furore Divina Costiera" and taste and buy it at Lady Marisa Cuomo, the beautiful winemaker.
Furore is magic. We say that the people of Furore are farmers during the day and fishermen during the night.
After Furore, already at the level of the sea, you're very close to Amalfi.
By the way, as you stay in Crowne Plaza, have a dinner at La Torre del Saracino, patron and chef the big big big Gennaro Esposito; its location is Marina di Seiano, close to your hotel.
Have a lovey trip.
Ciao.

Vincenzo

Vicenzo thanks for the tip on Furore..will plan to visit the town when we base in Amalfi in the spring. Have you any recommended trattorie there?

I have also read good things about La Torre del Saracino..it sounds as if there is very good eating in that area!

Thanks V and Ira. Do I need to have a car or can I use public transportation to get to Sorrento/Amalfi. Also, how would I manage Sorrento/Positano/Capri etc and other areas that Vincenzo has mentioned. I am there for 3 nights.

Hi A,

>can I use public transportation to get to Sorrento/Amalfi.

I don't know how you can get to Sorrento.

There is SITA bus service from there all the way to Salerno.

You can take the train to Sorrento from Castellamare.

Oh, yes from Stabia to Sorrento train (Circumvesuviana) is perfect.
Choose for a DD (the faster) and in less than half hour you're in Sorrento.
And, believe me, I suggest to use the train for Sorrento, also if you have a car.
But, again, I tell you that the car is mandatory if you want to visit Amalfi Coast using the road for Agerola and Furore.
By the way, if you like cheese, close to Stabia, in an hamlet of Vico Equense named Patierno, I suggest you to taste (and buy, perhaps) provola affumicata at CASEIFICIO BEL FAITO.

Ciao.

Vincenzo
