Distance from central Rome to airport?

We have a 10 am flight out of Rome and wondered how long it will take us from the Spanish Steps to the Rome airport. Should we think about staying at an airport hotel the night before our flight? Thanks for any input...

It takes about an hour to get to FCO from the center.

Have you thought about a car service? You would probably have to leave about 7am to get there two hours before your 10am flight.

I have used several times Airport Connetion with good results - some like it others don't, I only know I do. http://www.airportconnection.it/index.html

Many here also use Limo Service Rome with good results.

Hope this helps & have fun,

I would definitely stay in Rome for the last night. And I would highly recommend www.limoservicerome.com.

We were at the airport and in the check-in line 30 minutes after leaving our hotel at the Spanish Steps. Those drivers are something else!

Hi Sandy,

I also recommend staying in Rome and tking a shuttle to the airport.

Another recommendation for www.limoservicerome.com.
Excellent service which was highly efficient in both greeting us at the airport and at the hotel back again. My daughter had left her handbag in the limo, and they brought it back for us.
I assume that you are using the main Rome airport and not Ciampino? Not that it matters much as the limo will take you to either.

I agree with staying in Rome the night before and we had a 7:00 am flight. At that time of day there is no traffic so the ride is very short and fast. It is the most thrilling thing you will do. We were 6 in a cab going about 100 mph (140 km) from what i could tell when i had my eyes open.
