Displaying textiles

I love buying textiles on my travels--an embroidered/soutache Berber collar in dusty red on black velvet, a tapestry pillow cover from Switzerland, creamy lace from Venice...you get the picture.

I was wondering if any of this wise and varied group here had any hints on care and/or display for some of these things; I have some just hanging on ribbon-covered dowel rods and have put some of the (less valuable) lace in a frame with old gold backing, but I'm looking for websites or info for displaying some more precious/fragile things, like an antique cotton baby dress.

Thanks in advance, and feel free to just describe some of your own favorite textile buys! (mmmmmmmm, textiles.....)

This is more about display methods that are safe, conservation-wise, than about aesthetics, but you might be interested:

Thanks for this link!I bought a beautiful embroidered and beaded bedcover in India this fall and have been wondering how to display it.The Textile Museum site has a wonderful explanation of how to do just this. You never know what you'll find here!

Your welcome. It's also a terrific museum, if you like textiles.

After a long day at work, I have apparently forgotten how to spell "you're."

I'm thinking I may have to trek on down to the museum; they even have a "hands on" part, which would be essential for me, as I'd be suffering sensory deprivation looking at all those gorgeous things and not touching! :-)
