directions to hotel in Munich
Good afternoon to all,
I am wondering if anyone can assist me in determining the best way to get to Hotel Atlanta in Munich.
We will be arriving by train from Rothenberg on the afternoon of Dec. 20. I e-mailed the hotel and asked this same question and was confused by the response:
"You have to take U1 or U2 for one stop from the central station to Sendlinger Tor to come to us. You can also walk - 15 minutes from there."
Does this mean that we exit the train at the main train station and then get on U1 or U2, go to the first stop, which is Sendlinger Tor, get off there, and then find the way to the hotel? If so, does that require purchasing an additional ticket for this second segment once we arrive at the station?
Given the location of the train station and the hotel, would it be easier to walk? If so, how can I obtain the directions for doing so?
Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide.
Have a great evening!
Miriam

You got it pretty much right.
Follow signs to U1/U2 from the main hall of the central station until you reached the subway platform.
Take either line for 1 stop.
At Sendlinger Tor station follow the signs for exit, go up by elevator or escalator, turn left, and take the exit for Sendlinger Straße.
The hotel is just 50 yards from where you will hit the street level again.
You will need a "short trip ticket" for that one station ride -- unless you arrive from Rothenburg with a Bavaria/Bayern Ticket, which also includes Munich's Transit System for that day.
A bit too far to walk, from my perspective. Especially with luggage in tow.

Thank you so much, Cowboy 1968!
We will be arriving with a Bavaria / Bayern ticket, so, with our tickets in tow, we will just follow the directions as you have explained.
I appreciate the time you took to provide this assistance.
Have a good evening!
