Directions from London to Auxerre, Burgundy

I would like to know about different ways to get from London to Auxerre, Burgundy. I assume that I will need to go through Paris to get a train to Auxerre. Is this correct?

I could take either a plane or train from London to Paris. How/where do I transfer to the train to Auxerre? How long should I budget for this trip?
I've been to Auxerre and liked it a lot. I think you would have to go through Paris, there are trains from the stations at Bercy and Gare de Lyon, which are very close to each other, anyway. The ones from Bercy are a little quicker, I think, being direct. The train takes about 1:45-2 hrs from Paris.

The trains originating from "Lyon" (gare) generally require a change in Laroche; the trains originating from Bercy are direct. I doubt that by train you can, or would want to, avoid Paris.

Thanks - if I fly into CDG from London, how do I get to Bercy?

YOu could take a taxi, of course, which would be easiest.

After that, I'd suggest you take the Air France airport bus which goes directly to Gare de Lyon from CDG -- they leave about every 30 minutes, cost around 10 euro, and take about 45 min. You would then have to walk from Gare de Lyon to Gare de Paris Bercy (which would be fine if you have little or no luggage, it's about 600m). Or, you can take the metro from Gare de Lyon to Bercy, it's only one stop away.
