Direct Transportation to and from Heathrow

We arrive at Heathrow terminal five on June 21 at 12:30, and leave at 9:20 on June 26 for Milan. How far in advance should I reserve our transportation? We intend to use BlackBerry Cars, or Uber, or Just Cars. After the international flight, we do not intend to take a tube and transfer and such, we prefer direct transportation.

Not Just Airports- a favorite of many here? I have never used a transfer as always taken the train and or metro but if it's a favorite of Fodor's British experts it has to be good!

Are you worried about them filling up? Well if everything's set in place why not book - you probably can cancel within a certain time frame.

I'd probably ignore advice from someone who has never done it. . . .

No need to book far ahead -- 2 or 3 days would be plenty. I typically book about 5-7 days in advance for trips from/to the airport, but I tend to the cautious. If you use justairports you will get a decent discount if you pay cash.

Don't use uber.

I’ve used both Blackberry and Just Airports. Both good. You can book just a few days in advance but like janisj I book about a week ahead. Agree about Uber.

When have ave there been trains from LHR?

The Heathrow Express to Paddington and Heathrow Connect, a stopping train from airport to Paddington. Been there quite a while. If Cross Rail ever opens than those car services may suffer as fast underground trains will cross the town to many places - scheduled to open years ago and now a few years away probably.

You’re right just always referred to it as Heathrow Express.

The HEX is only sensible if one is staying AT Paddington or very near, and there are better areas. For most of central London the HEX makes no sense at all.

Thank you for your comments. I think we will book the BlackBerry Cars, and do so seven to ten days in advance.
