Direct Train - Gatwick to Waterloo

I thought I read on this forum once that there is a direct train from Gatwick Airport to Waterloo inter. train station. Does anyone know? Thanks.
I am not sure if there is a direct train or not. In June, I landed at Gatwick and took a train -- Connex I think -- from Gatwick to Waterloo, with a change at Clapham Junction. I only had to wait at Clapham Junction for about 5 minutes for the train. It was inexpensive and fast as well.

Yes, the Gatwick Express runs 24/7 between the airport and Waterloo station. During the day and evening there are two (or more) trains per hour each way. In the middle of the night there is at least one per hour each way.

I had thought that the Gatwick Express ran between Gatwick and Victoria Station -- unless they have several different lines?

1000 apologies. The only thing worse than bad advise is inaccurate advice. The Gatwick Express goes to Victoria Station, not Waterloo Station.

You can get the Gatwick express to Victoria Station and get the Tube to Waterloo, or get the slower train and change in Clapham Junction. See www.railtrack.co.uk for UK train info. Lisa, London

Here's the site to check for train schedules.. http://www.railtrack.co.uk/
It appears that there is no direct service from Gatwick to Waterloo, a transfer is required.

As Beth and Ms Davies say, you can take a South Central train in half an hour to Clapham Junction, change (across a footbridge) and reach Waterloo. The route via Victoria and the tube is tortuous: if you go to Victoria you will find the fast bus to Waterloo more convenient. But in fact you might well choose the no stairs route: Thameslink from Gatwick to London Bridge, stay on platform 6, Connex South East to Waterloo East, pick up a luggage trolley, trundle five minutes' walk to the lift, drop to Waterloo station.

Please write if I can help further.

Ben Haines, London

And remember - all of the directions suggested will get you to Waterloo Mainline - NOT Waterloo International. Now granted they are right next door to each other but it would be quite a hike from your arrival platform to the Security gate for the Eurostar.

For that reason - Gatwick Express to Victoria and a cab to Waterloo International would be your best bet.

Thank you so much for the info. I think, I'll just take the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station and taxi to Waterloo. What is the Gatwick Express fare to Victoria and how much will the taxi be from Victoria to Waterloo?

Thanks again.
