Got any suggestions for great pubs or restaurants that should not be missed in London?

Too many restaurants to list - what are you looking for?

We have only a day and half so we would like to go to some typical pubs and/or informal dinning. We want to experince the local cuisine not American food.

Go to fancyapint.com and check out some of the joints around Waterloo Station. The pub finder is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Sadly, great dinning is almost ubiquitous in London pubs and restaurants. Space is expensive, so tables are placed in closer proximity than most of have to our domestic partners.

Carpets, curtains and upholstered chairs are unmodish and - since the eatery will relaunch itself in three years as a completely different concept - an unnecessary cost addition.

So the din virtually everywhere is at a level higher than the Health and Safety Executive deems deangerous in factories.

There is great dinning in Dummer - just outside London.

We had great Indian food at Leicester Square - don't know the name but they're probably about all the same. We had Biryani!! Mmmmmm

I like the Museum Pub in front of the British Museum in Bloomsbury. It has been there at least as long as the Museum has, and the food and prices are OK. You can go to the Museum and then dine across the street (just remember that the Russell Square Station tube station nearby is now closed, take the bus instead).

Your comments on the din in London are congruent with my experience. But the deanger in factories is largely the result of falling vowels (not consonants), from which a hard hat offers meager protection.
