dinner suggestions in rome

Any "don't miss when you are there" places? First time to Rome and my wife and I are very interested in any first hand advice.

Of course, there are any number of fantastic restaurants in Rome. <BR><BR>For a newcomer here, the ability to find previous messages about something like "Rome restaurants" leaves a good bit to be desired.<BR><BR>Fodors Rants'n'Raves does offer personal impressions of hotels AND restaurants, as well as the "blurb" - - with address/telephone details, etc written BY Fodors.<BR><BR>Here are some other good message threads, gleaned by searching the names of individual restaurants:<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=2552543<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1359976<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1359896<BR><BR>Places I have cited on these or other threads include Vivendo (elegant, expensive) and Le Volte (much simpler, great place).<BR><BR>I'm sure others will list many more for you.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

We love Orso &quot;80 on Via Del'Orso nearby Piazza Navonna. Just order the anitpasti and a bottle of wine. They bring a ton of bowls with all kind of foods...vegies, meat, and seafood, even frittata (Italiam omelette) along with wonderful freshly baked flat bread...it is a feast.

We were very surprised and pleased with the beautiful decor and fabulous food at the vegetarian restaurant on Via Margutta. It's called something like La vegetariana Margutta and the creative cuisine should please anyone. We're not even vegetarians.

We liked Otella alla Concordia. Located on a side street near the northern edge of the Spainish steps. The eggplant parmigiana is the best I have ever eaten. The spagetti alle vongole veracie (with clams) is also excellent.
