Dinner reservations in Paris
I am having trouble making dinner reservations in Paris. Someone suggested the site www.bestofparis.com, but I am unable to get into it. <BR> <BR>HOw wouldyou call from US to Paris, country codes, etc. I am using the 011 + the number listed in Zagats, and am not having much success.

Many guides does lousy job in showing you EXACTLY what you need to dial, esp France. Rick Steves guide is pretty good in this respect. Here is how you need to translate: <BR> <BR>You probably were given the phone number this way: <BR> <BR>01-xx-xx-xx-xx <BR> <BR>This only works if you are in FRANCE already, the books don't usually tell you this. <BR>If you are calling from US, you need to CONVERT to this form: <BR> <BR>011-33-1-xx-xx-xx-xx <BR> <BR>"33" is France country code, notice that the "0" at the beginning of the number you are "supposed to call" is dropped. This is not always the case for other European countries, but for France, you need to do this.

I use www.reservethebest.com. have never had any trouble booking on line

To fax or telephone, dial 011-33-1- then the 8 digit local number or 8 digit local fax number. Forget the 01 they may give you - that's to call from France. For more Paris information e-mail me- [email protected]

Here's another idea that worked for me. Fax a list of restaurants and phone numbers and dates and times to your hotel and ask them nicely to make the reservations for you. When you get there, find out who handled it and tip them.
