Dinner on the Seine
 

My wife and I are going to Paris the end of Febuary,any suggestions for dinner cruises on the Seine? Do we need a reservation, can we shop around on that day? What's the best outfit

I would not recommend that you do a dinner cruise on the Seine, as the food is extremely mediocre and you can take a boat ride on a Bâteau-Mouche and then have a far better dinner in a nearby restaurant for a lot less money.

That said, I've heard that Yachts de Paris provides a pretty decent dinner package, but again it's so much pricier than a boat ride and a fine dinner somewhere nearby.

We were in Paris last February (Valentines weekend), and I would highly recommend taking the sunset (beautiful views) cruise only and going out to dinner afterwards. It gets dark early -- take the 5:30 cruise and make dinner reservations for 8:00 pm.

The boat is a BYOB, so you can grab a bottle of wine, some cheese, and snacks, and have a little picnic while cruising the Seine.

My recommendation would be to determine sunset time (see www.weather.com) and take your boat cruise 1/2 hour or more prior. You'll leave in daylight, enjoy dusk (when the light is most beautiful), and return after dark when the lights have been turned on all over.

Then, you can enjoy a much nicer meal (for a less lofty tariff) elsewhere.

I wouldn't eat on the boat either, but to be fair, one of my clients had the dinner cruise and absolutely loved it.

Here's another no dinner on the boat vote. We like to take a bottle of wine and some cheese on the bateau mouche then walk to dinner after either in the Rue Cler area or St. Germaine area. Much better!!!!

I did it my first time there. The food was awful but we had fun. There was entertainment(corny)

One more vote for the evening cruise and dinner elsewhere. You will get a better meal, in nicer surroundings, at a lower price.

We took the dinner cruise on the Bateaux Mouches on our first trip to Paris and enjoyed it a log, not knowing anything about really good French food at the time. However, I expect our enjoyment resulted from the wine cocktails served at the table we were first seated at; we got seconds when our table was changed, and then there were 2 bottles of wine with dinner. I just about remember geting back to the hotel after that (the Bonaparte again!). It's a beautiful way to see Paris, whether with food or not.
