Dinner near Opera Garner?
We will be attending a performance in October and are looking for a restaurant an easy walking distance from Opera Garner. Any recommendations? |
Almost right next door to the Opéra Garnier is the very elegant Grand Café Capucines. You won't even have to look at your watch, because it is open 24/7. Across the street from it is a Hippo steakhouse open until 1am most days or 3am on Friday and Saturday.
I will certainly not recommend the Café de la Paix. |

funny, Kerouac, I seem to remember reading on another thread a complaint that french restaurants only offer very limited opening hours. just goes to show that local knowledge can't be beat. |
Much misinformation is spread on all of the forums. In most cases, it is totally outdated but written with authority by somebody who visited ten or twenty years ago. In other cases, it applies to a different country than France "but all European countries are the same, aren't they?" And of course, a lot of it is made up on the spur of the moment.

I second the Capucines. Beautiful place.

I've been to the Capucines, also, several times, it's a good place in that area.
Obviously most restaurants are not open as many hours as that one is, but I haven't read the thread on that to know what they are complaining about. Cafes are generally open more hours than regular restaurants, anyway, that's normal. |
Don't be fooled by the "café" name. Many establishments which are "also" cafés are basically very elegant restaurants.
