Dinkelsbuhl/Ulm area

Anyone stayed in this Bavarian area? I'm looking for a nice 2-star gasthaus in the area. The village doesn't really matter. We are heading to Rothenburg and Bavaria in a couple weeks for a long weekend. I'm thinking of overnighting here, rather than Neuschwanstein, since there's major renovations at Neuschwanstein until 2005. Vielen dank!

As for Ulm itself, I loved it; stayed there twice, in 1992 and 2000. Search this site for Ulmer Spatz (hotel).

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
If you go to Dinkelsbuhl (which you should) you must stay at Hotel Blauer Hecht (Blue Pike)! We stayed there for 135 Euro anight for 4 of us. beautifully decorated. If you want I could send you some pictures of both the Hotel and Dinkelsbuhl.
Gary
A second for Ulm. An intriguing city. The Cathedral is the tallest in Europe and the view from the top is awesome. It has a fascinating old section and many of the old town walls and gates are still intact, especially along the Danube. Certainly much to see and do!We were first there many years ago at the 600th anniversary of the Cathedral when hundreds of townspeople climbed into the buttresses and alcoves at nightfall and lit torches on cue - impressive. Enjoy!
