dining on Hurtigruten

We will be traveling port to port on the Hurtigruten in July -- from Bergen to Trondheim and meals are not included in the fare. I have been unable to find the cost of meals when purchased separately, but there are warnings about the cost. The lunch buffet seems like a good idea, to fill up and then snack lightly for breakfast and dinner, or bring some snacks on board. Can someone provide any guidance on the dining situation on the ships? Thanks for any help.

The prices quoted on Hurtigruten's website are Kr135 for breakfast, Kr285 for lunch and Kr395 for dinner. These are the prices charged on board. There is a discount for advance booking.

The ships also have a cafeteria which is open 24 hours a day for drinks and snacks.

Geoff, thanks for the information. If we opt for a buffet I will definitely pay in advance.

Hurtigruta is expensive. It is quite acceptable to bring a packed meal onboard, sandwiches, fruit etc. The cafeteria is cheaper than the restaurant, but the buffet is good though :-) And you can really fill up.
