Dining in Paris - 7th arr.
 

<BR>Can anyone suggest a few restaurants in Paris' 7h arrondisement or the surrouding neighborhoods on the Left Bank? Either moderately priced or expensive. Thanks.

One of our favorites is L'O a la Bouche, 157 Blvd. Montparnasse. Last summer we enjoyed a superb lunch there. Daily specials of 2 or 3 courses were 90 and 130 francs, and each course was wonderful..the kind of cuisine that makes you "ooh" after each bite. The waiters were very friendly, and interested to talk to Americans-wanted to know where we were from and how we heard about them. Lovely golden provencal decor too-a great experience. <BR>

My Mother and I were in Paris in May. <BR> <BR>Although it was filled with Americans ONLY, we enjoyed the Rick Steve's recommended Auberge du Champs de Mars, #18 rue de L'Exposition. Others on this web site also recommended it. <BR> <BR>We also enjoyed Le Bistrot de Breteuil, listed in the Cheap Eats in Paris book. One of our favorite restaurants! <BR> <BR>Two other Cheap Eats we enjoyed also: Bistrot Le P'tit Troquet and Le Bistrot du 7'eme. <BR> <BR>All were in walking distance from Hotel Leveque on rue Cler. We did take the metro to Breteuil, but it's about a 15-20 minute walk to the place. <BR> <BR>All were very good meals with good menu selections and reasonably priced wines. <BR> <BR>

Hi Rob. <BR>We were in Paris in early May and stayed at the Hotel Muguet in the 7th (very nice hotel -would highly recommend)and found 2 very good small bistros that I am sure you would enjoy. <BR>Le Florimond - 19,av.de la Motte-Picquet,personal service by co-owner, good food -very reasonably priced -we ate there twice. <BR>Nuit de Saint Jean. 29 Rue Surcouf, just off Rue Dominique above Rue Cler - it too was small, personal attention, excellent food, etc. These small bistros are so much more enjoyable and friendly compared to the large, outdoor cafes. The prices in both these places were around 100-145 fr. for fixed price menu. Very good value. Also, both places were an easy walk from our hotel. <BR>Enjoy your trip. <BR> <BR>Susan

Here is an emphatic second to Susan's suggestion of Nuit de St. Jean at 29 r. Surcouf. We were last there in May 1997 and Susan we are glad to hear that it is still holding up. Small and very pleasant. You may also consider La Fontaine de Mars 129 r. St. Dominique which has very good food, confortable and very friendly at least in Dec. 1998. <BR> <BR>Paul

I guess the answer is at the Eiffel Tower - there are 2 restaurants and both are great and romantic, reserve an evening and as for table with the view:)

A strong 3rd recommendation for Nuit de Saint Jean.

My sister and brother-in-law lived in Paris for several years, so on our recent trip together we were treated to several spectacular meals. Le Trumilou (the 4th) was incredibly good and inexpensive. The duck and prunes was all that they had promised! Starters, two orders of the above, and three bottles of wine for about $70/couple. <BR> <BR>For my sister's 40th birthday dinner she chose Au Petit Marguery(edge of the 5th and 13th). Amazing food, and wonderful atmosphere. Definitely brush up on your French, or take a translator, since you will be the only "tourist" in sight! Make sure to save room for the cheese tray and an armangac. Several course meal, plus wine approximately $150 per couple. <BR> <BR>Remember that these prices include the gratuity.

We had one of our best dinners at the La Bastide Odeon, just down from Luxembourg Park. Wonderful food, great service, moderate prices.
