Dining in Bordeaux
Will be visiting Bordeaux in April, and would like a suggestions for places to dine that serve the regional (Bordelais?)cuisine. Thank you.
|
Le Vieux Bordeaux or Le Chapon Fin, both are great & quite expensive. Les Plaisrs d'Ausone is also memorable, they received one Michelin star when we dined there.
If you are willing to drive out of the city toward Medoc wine country, I highly recommend Lion d'Or in Arcins (almost across the street from Chateau d'Arcins). Very good country dishes at reasonable prices, the chef comes out and hugs even the foreign visitors. We reserved ahead of time 33-(0)556589679. Enjoy! |
If you're out in the Medoc, I'd recommend Cordellian-Bages--located on the D1 in Pauillac--the Pauillac lamb paired with a red bordeaux is exceptional. South of the city, try Les Sources de Caudalie. They have two restaurants--one is the Grand Vigne which is an upscale restaurant, but the other is a smaller bistro, serving more regional and home-cooking styled meals.

I second Cordelian Bages, it's a class above Lion d"Or. I was going to recommend it but thought it's much further from the city.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I always appreciate the solid advice on this site.

And I second the Lion d'Or in Arcins. Really wonderful old world food in comfortable atmosphere. Supposedly it's filled at lunchtime with locals who work in the wine industry. Had fantastic tete de veau there.
