Dining at the Eiffel Tower
 

I am travelling to Paris in October with my 20 year old daughter. Her first time. It is my birthday and I wanted to have a meal at the Eiffel Tower to celebrate. What time of day is best and which restaurant is recommended? How do we also go to all the levels for the view?

We loved our lunch at Jules Verne to actually "see" the city from the Tower. It is expensive, but it is a true experience to be remembered. You must make reservations, starting even now. With a reservation at JV, you are admitted to the elevator to the second level. You can continue on up to the top with a small additional charge after your lunch.

We have dined twice at L'Attitude, which is the lower restaurant. It is not as gourmet as Jules Verne and less pricey. The first time we went in 1984 we just called and made a dinner reservation, got a great table near the window overlooking the fountains. Then in 1999 it was a problem getting through. So I asked the hotel we would be staying at to make the reservation for us (small 3* hotel).

Do it well in advance. We had an okay table (I think because we made the reservation later). I remember several people complaining about their tables since they were close to the elevators rather than the windows. If it is still the same, there was a check in on the ground for the restaurants.
Have a wonderful meal, we truly enjoyed both our visits.

I think the name maybe L'Altitude, not "attitude".

ALTHOUGH wouldn't that be the quintessential name for a Paris restaurant!!
don't know if they still do but the "lesser" restaurant also caters to tour groups that include it.

the alternative is a restaurant with a VIEW of the Eiffel Tower - i'm sure that there was a thread about that a few months ago. that would be particularly nice at night.

I had lunch at Jules Verne for a "special" birthday. It was definitely a memory maker. You can reserve online.

7 pm. Get there when it opens, you will have the table all evening.

You will get there when it's still light out, watch the sunset and then see the lights come on.

It is memorable indeed, we did in mid OCtober 2012. The food wasn't what I expected, the experience however, was all that and more!

Look at the Jules Verne web site.This class of restaurant has only one sitting for each meal. It closes between lunch and dinner. Also, there is a SIGNIFICANT difference in meal prices between lunch and dinners. If a chance for a night view is essential, go to the dinner hoping for a clear enough evening. One benefit of eating there is that there is a dedicated elevator just for the diners. And also, you have a direct access to the observation deck. Read the reservation confirmation carefully. They usually require a confirmation a day or so before the reservation or they will cancel your booking.

One restaurant with a good VIEW of Eiffel tower is Les Ombres.

Greg has it right about the price for sure. I loved lunch for actually "seeing" Paris. And the price was "right" for that experience for us.
