I am just following up on Ira's interest in what my son ordered. We dined at Taillevent on November 25th and it was everything we could have hoped for. What an experience! It was pure perfection from beginning to end. My ten year old son is still talking about it. His tenderloin of beef was "the best food I've ever eaten". When served his starter, a cream of chestnut puree, with frog's legs floating on top, he was struggling with trying to cut them with his knife and fork. Within seconds, one of the attentive waitstaff appeared with a finger bowl and politely whispered to him that it was perfectly acceptable to pick them up with his fingers. He was very relieved and ate every bite of everything in front of him. Any worries I had of bringing him were put to rest. THe entire experience was perfect. Then the credit card statement arrived in the mail....oh well, I will just have to save up for next time. I will try and write more about the rest of the trip after the holiday rush winds down.

A ten-year-old eating cream of chestnut soup with frog's legs floating on top is even a bit over-the-top for me. I waited until my surrogate son turned 19 before I took him to Taillevent.

Good for you and your son. I'm happy to read it was a success. I look forward to reading more.
