Dingle town
 

Final planning for my trip and I am ready to book a B&B in Dingle. Looking for something close to the town center for the nights of Feb 18 and 19th. Last chance to sway me in the right direction. Thanks to anyone who helps.

I booked Hotel ballymore for Jan, great reviews. a little outside of dingle, Bambury house looks nice in dingle. emlagh house was booked and so was dunlavin that looks good too.

Was just in Dingle last night. There are B&B rooms above Murphy's pub, we paid €30 per person. Clean and warm, although the potpourri smell was a bit overpowering. Shower only in room, and bathrooms a bit small.

We saw a really cute place, called An Capall Dubh, on Green Street, which was between 35 and 40 euros per person, close to the pubs both on the marina and the other side of town..

And a lot of people really like the Mainstay.

The Mainstay is in town, and open February. Captains House, Greenmount (renovations) & Emlagh House are closed. Emlagh Lodge is a 5 minute walk. Bambury's gets good reviews and a short distance from town.

We're staying at Benners Hotel on Main Street the 1st week in February. Euro 38 per person including breakfast. Saturday night the 18th may run a little higher.

I am surprized that Bambury's does not get more rave reviews . It meets and often exceeds all criteria. Located on the edge of town it is within an easy walk but in a quiet location. Rooms are large and beautifully appointed as are the baths...awesome power showers. Breakfast is bountiful. I am a repeat customer and recommend it highly.

I stayed at Emlagh lodge in September. And,it was great. The breakfasts were wonderful in their presentation. The price was 35 euros and was a 5 min walk to town.

I've had a few drinks at Murphy's in Dingle. With the no smoking law inside pubs, a lot of people were outside smoking & drinking & chatting. I would think the B&B would be noisy, unless you get a room at the back. ((b))

Milestone House in Dingle was great! The hosts were wonderful and the water pressure in the showers was nice too. Our room overlooked the Brandon Mountains (I think that was the name anyway)...gave us custom maps of all the sights. It's not in the heart of town, but an easy walk to the town center.

That time of year I'd vote for Benner's. I checked it out when I was in Dingle and it would be comfortable and you'd be right in the center of town.

My vote goes to Emlagh Lodge...right on the water. Great views from 'Seaview' room.

Emlagh Lodge it is! Now exactly where is it? Can't find "West Emlagh" on the map. I assume it's on the west end of town. Looks like a bridge there...is it over the bridge?

I just got an email back from Emlagh Lodge and was given a rate of 95 Euros per person per night. Seems a little stiff.

ggroppi, that can't be right. I just looked it up and it said 35 euro per person per night. There is Emlagh House and 95 euro would be what they would charge. It is very up-scale. Call or e-mail Emagh Lodge, I know it's confusing. Best of luck, Joan

Both are nice but Emlagh Lodge is a B&B. Emlagh House is a guest house. If you can afford the higher price I have to admit that Emlagh House was perfection. But if that is too much for the budget you will probably be happy with Emlagh Lodge.

Rate I got from the Emlaugh Lodge was on the order 35 euros (don't have the e-mail in front of me)not 95. Didn't look at the Emlaugh House

We stayed at Emlaugh Lodge(its a B&B) for two nights during our honeymoon-It was a great location-just five minute walk along the water to town center-we had a beautiful view from our room of Dingle Bay-The room was spacious and very clean. The owner was very nice. Many people get it confused with Emlaugh House which is very close in proximity and much more expensive. It is a manor house(much larger) not a B&B.

Funghi, the famous Dingle dolphin, at last report is still swimming around the bay and convorting with visitors - a cottage industry has grown up in dingle where boats take visitors to the friendly dolphin. Boy did London miss a whale of an opportunity when its Funghi the Whale died last week.

We were in Dingle a coupel weeks ago. Stayed at Dingle Bay Hotel, right next to Murphy's Pub in town center. It was great. 45 euro per person. Highly recomended.

As to Emlagh Lodge - I stayed there too and loved it. Definitely try to get the Seaview room! As to where it is - I can't recall exactly, but on the first map on the below url, I believe it was on (or near) the road labeled "Cooleen" that runs of the bottom of the map. I'd say it's probably close to the edge of the shown map. It's not far from town - an easy walk that I made several times a day.

In October of 2004 we stayed at Heatons just West of town. All in our party rated it as the best location that we stayed at in Eire, although it is a guesthouse and more expensive than a BnB. New construction with all modern amenities right on the bay.
