DINGLE?RING OF KERRY WITH MOTION SICKNESS
I will be traveling in Ireland with 2 sisiters & mother. One of my sisters & mother get rather motion sick-I was wondering how winding etc the roads are in Dingle & Ring of Kerry? I would hate to miss this area. However I do not want to put these two at risk of feeling aweful for a full day either. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Difficult to be conclusive here, as I don't know to much about your situation. However, if you mean that you would prefer long straight roads, then you may have some difficulties in the Kerry / Dingle area. In general the terrain is quite contoured and follows the coastal indentations. Perhaps you would be better to base yourself in one area. Enjoy your trip, Tim.

Have just returned from a trip around the Dingle Peninsula, it was good. Depending on the type of roads you are accustomed to, these may appear winding. However, there are plenty of places to stop and rest, the scenery is beautiful, especially at the tip of the peninsula, and there is no need to speed along; a leisurely pace will suffice. My daughter is often affected by car sickness and she was fine. It took us two days to do a quick tour, we stopped overnight to relax. Travel sickness pills are usually very effective. Don't be put off, especially if the weather is fine, the views are spectacular. Don't know about the views when its foggy/misty/rainy though. Dingle itself is quite compact and will probably be congested, don't let that put you off eoither, just keep going. Lastly, the beaches at Ventry and Inch are vast and good for a rest; the car park for the latter is on the sand itself. Have a good trip |
it's true, the roads in that area are farely windy, but they are worth travellinng even if there are motion sick people in the car... there is one in particular on the Beara pinninsula (which if you are in that area you should defintely see... I thought it was much better than the ring of kerry ) that looks like a race track, but it's so windy and there are so may sheep in the way ( a constant driving hazard in Ireland ) that you can't really go over 5 miles an hour... so motion sicknness may not be that big of an issue for some people...
