Dingle Pininsula

Is anyone familiar with Mount Eagle Lodge. Looks like great view and great breakfasts and host. Any comments or knowledge would be appreciated. Thank you

Hello Joy, Yes, we stayed there for 2 nites last year and loved it. Eric and Elenor are very nice and the location is perfect for Slea head drive. Be sure to eat at Skippers in Ventry. Wonderful French cuisine in Ireland--go figure.

Dingle has some wonderful produce. The berries they grow are quite unique.

Joy - Another vote for Skippers - it was wonderful. Our B&B hostess called ahead and got us a table at the french restaurant in town. We drove to town and circled and circled looking for a french restaurant. Finally went into Skippers (the sign is a huge fisherman)to inquire and lo and behold -it WAS the french restaurant. It just didn't look like one. The food and service were excellent. Not familar with Mt. Eagle but Ventry was beautiful.
Enjoy -

If the restaurant "The Half Door" is still there - it is excellent!

Sean,
Although I live in Chicago, I have a small farm in the country. I'm very interested in growing some of those- Dingleberries. Are you really familiar with them?

sean Aug 9th, 2001 08:44 AM

I am quite familiar with them, as I have a beautiful patch of them growing in my rear yard. Would you like me to send you some? You could sample them, and if you like them, propigate them in your own Dingleberry patch.

Am interested in this same area. Can anyone tell me the fastest route from Dingle to Tralee? (That's providing I've spent the day before looking around the Penn and just need to head out on my journey. Also, is it true that the music in pubs doesn't start until 9:30 at night?

Cathy Aug 25th, 2001 03:55 AM

Gena,

It is true that music does not start in Irish pubs until 9.30 or so - and of course it does not finish until all hours of the monring depending on the pub and the musicans of course. Closing time varies depending on the day of the week but usually 11.30 and then at the weekends 12.30 and Sundays 11.00.

When I have visitors staying with me I usually suggest that they have a nap mid evening before adjourning to the pub for music,

Hope this helps

Cathy
