Dingle-Dining and lunch
 

We will be in Dingle for three nights in September. Appreciate a good restaurant for dinner and a nice place for lunch. We love seafood. Personal experience no websites, please.

I'll be in Dingle in September as well, and just thought I'd bring this to the top and ask if a vegetarian stands a chance of dining out in Dingle...

We personally liked Murphy's Pub accross from the harbor for dinner. Locals and tourists, reasonable prices. We were never around town for lunch. You can't beat the view for tea stop at the place out past the Madona statue on Slea Head.

The four of us all enjoyed our meal at Murphy's Pub, as well.
My daughter's vegetarian pasta dish there was scrumptious....I can't recall exactly what it was but it included lots of FRESH veggies cooked just right. I believe I had a salad and soup there. I found vegetarian soups everywhere that were delicious and satisfying. My husband is a meat eater and found plenty to his liking in the same places. I was pleasantly surprised by the food in Ireland, in general.

The Old Smokehouse was wonderful-the baked brie appetizer was to die for!
And, the Mystic Celt was fabulous as well-great presentation and delicious food!

How about Doyle's in Dingletown for dining?

We had an excellent lunch at the old Smokehouse. Dinner at the Forge was okay - not wonderful but decent. just down the block from the Smokehouse is a very authentic Italian place - I think it's called il Trovo Vengto or something like that. It's closed on Wednesday's and we didn't have a chance to try it but

cont - but it looked like the real deal. The same folks operate a small Italian deli on the same street (just a few doors up the hill from the Smokehouse) that had real authentic wheels of Italian cheese, olives, prosciutto etc. - great place to get stuff for a picnic lunch.

We had dinner the first night at the Marina Inn. Pub menu but very disappointing. The fried calamari were rubbery not crispy batter and the fish 'n chips was overcooked and mediocre. I strongly advise sticking to haddock if it's availabel for fish 'n chips. Anything else that is generically sold as "fish n' chips" will consist of any number of generic white fleshed bottom fish. The flavor of the fish in my dinner was uninspiring and bland.

One of our most memorable dinners in Dingle was at the Beginish Restaurant on Green Street. We requested the back room(the restaurant is not large) which was off a small garden. Two of the four of us had fish dishes which were fabulous. I had Orange Roughy but I suppose it depends on the time of year. We were there in May a few years ago. In the two trips we've been to Ireland, Dingle was my favorite spot. Hopefully, you'll get to drive on Slea Head road-incredible views.

Oh, we ate at Doyle's also. We enjoyed the seafood. And atmosphere. The owner made sure to stop and talk to everyone. We had a great time.

Just got back from Ireland and I would recommend The Old Smokehouse in Dingle. It was our best lunch of the trip. My wife got a potato/leek dish that was out of this world and the Chowder had large chunks of fish and oysters loaded in it. We sat outside next to the stream. A definite must!
