Dingle Bay or Ring of Kerry
If you had to choose between the two which would you travel to and why. Since we have limited time we'll only be able to pick one. Any help would be appreciated.thanks

Most visitors to this site go for Dingle, especially the Connor Pass. However overall The Ring of Kerry is a bigger draw for tourists.Killarney is Ireland`s best-known vacation centre with its wonderful National Park and it happens to be on the Ring of Kerry.

I vote for the Dingle Peninsula complete with Conor Pass and Slea Head Drive. It is beautiful. Actually Killarney is in Co. Kerry but I don't believe it is on the Ring of Kerry. The Ring of Kerry is a Peninsula and Killarney is inland.

I would choose Dingle, as suggested by CD with Slea Head Drive and Connors Pass. We did both Dingle and Ring of Kerry when we were in Ireland in March, and we preferred the scenery on Dingle. Plus, if you are going during a heavy tourist time, Dingle will likely be slightly less crowded. Finally, I think Dingle Town is a much better place to hang out than Killarney.

I just returned from Ireland last week, and we choose the Dingle Penninsula over the Ring of Kerry, staying in Dingle. Absolutely loved it! Though I suppose both rely on clear weather, I think the drive from Dingle to Slea Head and back to Connor Pass was priceless, while I hear the Ring of Kerry is a long drive where you have to cover the whole ring or turn back (there is no cut through). We also went through Killarney on our way to Dingle, so the town can be done still, if you choose to skip the ring.

Hi Cheryl,

Dingle - Less people, more scenic, great accommodations/food/entertainment.

Ring of Kerry - A loooonnnnggg drive for very little, BUT Killarney and the Lakes Drive is equal to Dingle.

If I had to chose one it would be Dingle, but if I had two days and a night, I would do Killarney Lakes and Muckross House and then head to Dingle for the night. Explore Dingle the next day.

Have fun.

We have done both and recommend the drive along Dingle Bay over the Ring of Kerry. Take your time to enjoy and explore, you will not be disappointed whichever one you choose.

Dingle. No doubt about it. The people were friendly, it's a beautiful area, excellent food and accomodatinos and you will definitely appreciate the scenery on Connor's Pass.

Cheryl:

Did both. Dingle, Conner Pass wins! No contest!!

JOHN
