thanks mokka. Thought so! Thought I was going crazy with the absence of that train.

I will go ahead booking now. If I book on sbb with departing PARIS reaching LUCERNE it costs me 115 chf.

But if I book the trips separately it would be:

paris-geneva : 44chf
geneva-lucerne : 38chf
just a total of 82chf

______

Do you reckon i should do this way? What's the catch? :o

nooriskandar Jul 21st, 2014 01:02 AM

Ugh I knew it, spoke too soon when I wanna purchase the tickets from geneva-lucerne, this popped up.

Please note!

Please select a date [DD.MM.YYYY] within the valid date range: 21.07.2014 to 20.08.2014.

Oh man, this leg of my trip is giving me a headache.

nooriskandar Jul 21st, 2014 01:18 AM

turns out i should just book the Paris-Lcuerne and get it over and done with.

Just need your tips before I retire this thread. :3

Chanced upon this option:

a)Make reservations in all available trains (recommended)
b)Reserve only if required

Would it be okay to stick to the latter?

There are three of us, what should be the best seat options?

I supposed upper deck with open (as to corridor, no idea what's that) and 2 windows, one aisle seats i guess?

PalenQ Jul 21st, 2014 10:15 AM

reservations are required on at least the French part of the TGV trip - not sure once you reach Swiss soil if they are. Do not make seat reservations for any connecting train to Lucerne as they simply are a waste of time and money and if you miss that connection you are out the extra reservation fee - so so many trains in Switzerland just reserve portions you are required to do.

Yes you can reeerve three out a block of 4 seats - you can get two window seats or two aisle seats and one aisle seat and one window seat respectively - if the train is not filled you can move around after take-off - being sure that empty seats are not reserved down the line at some subsequent station (if not apparent best to ask conductor about that).

You have an open train car - not a compartment -2nd class has two rows of seats on each side of a central corridor - these can face each other to form a block of 4 (some folks can't coton riding backwards though.

It is not clear if your three seats are in a block of four or in separate rows of two seats all facing forward. If so it may be best to try to get three seats in a row - one on one side of the aisle and another on the other and the window.

Hello.

I am already trying to purchase three tickets from Paris to Luzern.

Both times I tried, after entering details of my credit card and OTP number,
the web browser (SAFARI) redirects me back to the payment page where I have to refill all my card particulars. This is scary does that mean my money has been deducted twice but no tickets have been issued? No emails or page of confirmation of purchase was made available to me on both accounts. Is this a glitch?

:(

Update guys:

I changed to FIREFOX and it went thru. problem solved. phew. what a headache this leg of the trip was haha. thanks for all your help.

LAST HELP:

I entered my full name Muhammad Noor Iskandar as first name and OTHMAN as surname.

On the ticket pdfs it shortened to Muhammad Noo Othman, same goes for my sis.
Should I start panicking that the names and passport don't match?

No, they know that their software only handles a certain number of letters.

nooriskandar Jul 23rd, 2014 02:15 AM

Of course rhere is neverending problem. I called my bank and to their horror the sbb site chargef our card thrice. that is an excess of 670chf. the first two transactions didnt even alert me that the bookings are confirmed or any emails we sent hence i tried for the thirs time and worked. I should be able to get a refund right?

PalenQ Jul 23rd, 2014 03:22 PM

I should be able to get a refund right?>

Not necessarily once there - tickets may be refundable for only a certain time if they are discounted tickets or not refundable - I would contact your credit card issuer and ask for the first two charges to be blocked - to be contested and also call - yes old school call and talk to someone at SBB - don't put it off until Switzerland.

nooriskandar Jul 24th, 2014 03:00 AM

Year dear Palen,

I took immediate steps to call my bank and email SBB.
My bank confirmed twice that three transactions were made. They gave me the approval numbers, sum and time transaction were made.

Told SBB about it but they insisted only one transaction went thru with my account number.

Loss for words now.

PalenQ Jul 24th, 2014 05:46 AM

Sounds like the proverbial Catch 22 - good luck - I would still try to talk to someone at SBB by phone - must have English help number.

anyway good luck and I feel for the travail this must be causing.
