Digne, Annot or St. Andre?

Has anyone stayed at these villages along the train route from Nice to Digne? If so, please recommend hotels/restaurants. We will hike out from these stops, but need a home base. Thanks.

Have you ever taken this train route, Willi? I am very interested in hearing from anyone who has, as I'm considering it as an option for part of an upcoming French Riviera trip.

We took this trip from Nice some years ago. The train was quaint and very slow and also quite expensive. We got off at Digne walked up and down the main street had a coffee and caught the train back to Nice. The scenery was probably worth the trip, but it was just something we had to do once.We went in March so the weather was reasonably cold in the mountains. By the way the train leaves from Nice's second railway station and not the main one.

Have reservations for Nice in November. Was also thinking of taking this train trip. Any new comments from people who've done it? Thanks.

Lucky you! All I know about Annot, is that it is a beautifull little village - there is a hotel very close to the station, and you can easily reach everything you need on foot! Enjoy!
