In terms of organizing digital pictures, if you have an apple, iPhoto is a killer app (and also free). I also used this app with photoshop to create a beautiful scrapbook of my last vacation- you can even send the scrapbook pages to apple via iPhoto to get them professionally printed out and bound as a book.

Do you guys bring your laptop to download your pictures? I bought more memory (128MB or something like that). I don't know if this will last me for 2-weeks. Does anyone know? I'll be going to Southern Germany, Munich, and Berlin. Will there be internet cafes I can go to download my pics? Will they let me install my software? Anyone have any suggestions? I do not want to suppress my pictures coz I want to print 4x5 pictures to put in an album. Should I just bring my film camera just in case?

In addition to my 35mm film cameras, I use a Canon Powershot 45s. It's a fun camera and is capable of very good results.
The problems, as others have pointed out, are shutter lag, and an inaccurate viewfinder...what you see is definitely NOT what you get. Battery drain and image storage are other issues that have to be dealt with.
My preferrence is still 35mm, although that will probably change in the future when more slr digitals are introduced.
Canon has just released the 300d slr which sells for under a $1000.00. It's small & lightweight and looks good as a travel camera.
Still, as far as point & shoot cameras go, a $79.00 Olympus Stylus Epic (film camera) knocks the socks off of any of the equivelent digitals available.
