Digital Cameras & X-Rays

I have just entered the age of the digital camera and wonder if anyone can advise me if I need to shield the digital from X-rays at airline security as we did with film cameras?

There are no problems with digital cameras and X-rays.

Since digital cameras do not use film there should be little, if any, problem with x-rays.

As mentioned, X-rays will not harm your digital media. Although I would not recommend walking through security with your compact flash card or other magnetic media in your pocket. If something sets of the scanner when you walk through it, the attendant will carry out a manual scan of your body with one of those battan type handheld scanners. I've been told they are a magnetic device (as most metal detectors are) and if it is passed over any magnetic storage media, it can be affected. Therefore place all your digital equipment through the X-ray scanner to be on the safe side.
