Difficult choice-London- the Cranley or 5 Sumner place? e

Anyone stayed @ both or toured both? For charm, value, location-which one? Single woman traveler loves B&B with lots of charm. Did read a little about noise @ cranley. Any insight??

We have stayed at 5 Sumner Place, but not for several years. It was very nice, a collection of terrace houses converted into one, so plenty of character. Nice sitting areas, with an Honesty System Bar. Very suitable hotel for a single traveller I would say.
Within easy walking distance to both Tube and Bus Stops.
There was a very positive review contained in a Trip Report on this Forum just recently - and that writer was also travelling on her own -

I have stayed across the street from 5 Sumner. Excellent location, about 2.5 blocks to the South Kensingtion tube stop, which is a straight ride in from Heathrow. Walking distance to the V&A Museum, and a little farther to Harrods.
Plenty of casual moderately-priced restaurants in the side streets near the Tube station.

Topping for ateabag, so responses can build on what she's already got.

I stayed at 5 Sumner Place two years ago. Agree with Elaine about the great location and ease of access. Friendly staff - when we had an early flight they volunteered to open the breakfast room 45 minutes early.

I stayed at the Cranley in November. I got my room on Laterooms.com paying 120£ for the executive twin (2 beds), All the rooms seem nice. I stayed on the first floor. The hotel has champagne and great hor dourves at 7 and they really like to partake. I missed their afternoon tea each day. It is like a B&B but a hotel. The bathroom was particularly nice. The location was a quick walk from the tube, about 10 minutes. It is a very quiet neighborhood.

They are in totally different leagues! 5 Sumner Place is excellent for what it is but the Cranley is a definite 2 steps up! Actually I prefer Astor House right next door to #5, especially the Garden Room..but if money is no object or if you find a great deal go with the Cranley
