Difference between 1st and 2nd class

What's the difference ( besides price) between a 1st and 2nd class seat on the TGV from Paris to Lyon? We will be going from the overnight flight ( which will not be first class) right to the train and wondering if a 1st class seat might be a worthwhile splurge.

You might like to take a look at http://www.seat61.com/France.htm some pictures of 1st and 2nd classes.

Bigger seats & fewer of them per row, I believe. It makes it very easy to sleep on that boring run.

We've done both 1st and 2ndon the TGV - also coming off of an overseas flight. I personally didn't think the difference in the seats, etc was much. You may be able to get a Prem fare that's cheaper than a regular fare anyway and upgrade to 1st class. Ex: Daughter paid 78 euro for 2nd class Paris-Bordeaux a week ahead of trip. Other daughter paid 52 euro for same trip, 1st class, booked about a few weeks ahead.

Not enough notable difference for me ever to have considered it, except MAYBE when a 1st class PREM fare is, say, only 5 euros more than a 2nd class one. Which does happen.

Totally agree with above posters. Not a big difference, I tried both. However if you get a PREM deal of course it is worth it.
