Diet sprite

Can I find diet sprite anywhere in London? Do the grocery stores carry it? Thanks.

Yes, it's available everywhere, supermarkets, convenience stores, newsagents, around 50-60p a can of 330 ml (about half that in supermarkets in packs of 6 or 12).

It's called Sprite Light in England and in the rest of Europe. Diet Coke is known as, you guessed it, Coke Light (or in France, Coca Light.

I believe the formulas are not identical - I think the european versions do have some calories - but way less than regular soft drinks.

Sprite Zero is available in Ireland so I'd imagine it's available in London too.

Another citrus-y soft drink available in London is Lilt. It's not exactly the same as Sprite or 7-up, but it's pretty good.

Actually, in the UK the product is called Diet Coke. Some merchants in London, and this was the subject of a long thread about a year ago, sell a product called Coca Cola Light. They don't use the official UK distributor of coke products but rather import the stuff from places as far away as the Middle East and/or Georgia (no not Atlanta, Georgia but Georgia). If you look at the cans you will see all sorts of foreign writing on the cans or it is covered up to try to hide the origin of the drink. When stores do that, the coca cola products they sell are all imported and they try to hide the fact by putting labels over the point of origin.

Now I don't quibble with doing business to save a quid or two but at least to me, the taste of Coca Cola Light is completely different from Diet Coke. Diet coke sold in the UK tastes exactly the same as Diet Coke sold in the US; Coke Light sold throughout Europe tastes completely different.

So one might assume the same thing is true for Sprite...

It would be the common custom to post your "thank you" - - http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34556438 - - here as an another reply to your original question, rather than starting a new post (though it's not "wrong" per se, to do what you did).

In the event that you had trouble relocating your first post (though obviously you have seen it at least once since it got answers), it's as simple as clicking on your own name.

Best wishes,

Rex
