Nutrasweet is merely a brand name for aspartame.

On a related note, in the Netherlands we drank a lot of Amstel. I asked whether they had "Amstel Light", which is the only Amstel product available in my midwestern US state. The waitress looked at me like I was from another planet.

Being diabetic, I drink only diet drinks and water. On our recent trip to Europe, I noticed the difference in taste in the Coke Light, but also noticed that it is not calorie free like our Diet Coke. I believe it had something like 25 cal. per serving.

The lemon diet coke in the U.S. is nasty tasting. I also recently tried the new vanilla coke. They're just overpowering these new flavors.

Such variety in soft drinks! I am so jealous! I miss Dr. Pepper and Root Beer!

Where I live (Latvia), there is only Coke, Coke Light, Sprite, and Fanta (Orange, Lemon)...I think we have the basic Pepsi products as well (Pepsi, Pepsi Light, and 7-Up). Only plastic bottles of it here...no cans.

When I moved here a year ago, Coke Light was just arriving in Riga, Latvia, and only in large grocery stores. Beginning last May, it began appearing in the restaurants as well, but is only served in about 20-30% of the restaurants here.

I was quite the Diet Coke addict when I lived in the States, and was worried that I wouldn't like the alternative over here. I actually really like the Coke Light here. Only took me about a week before I was used to it.
FYI...I just looked at my Coke Light bottle and it appears to be bottled in Lithuania.

I don't care for the Coke Light that is in Germany. Don't know why it tastes different in Germany, but it certainly does taste different...much sweeter than Latvia.

Just curious, Amy, where is the stuff you drink in Latvia bottled?
|
Dr. Pepper...Did you not read my entire post? :)

I wrote that it is bottled in Lithuania...at least that is what it looks like. There's Russian and Lithuanian writing on the bottle. No way I can read Russian writing...but it gave a street address in Lithuania and said "Coca Cola Bottlers Lietuva" on the Lithuanian part of it.

Absolutely right Amy... I missed it entirely. Sorry..
