Did I make a mistake?

I think that I goofed??? I'm flying out of Gatwick to Murcia in Spain and then driving to Almeria to a timeshare called Vero Beach Club. Is this drive difficult? I couldn't get a flight closer. Also on the way back to Gatwick, I have a 6 hour delay, then leave for the USA out of Heathrow. Where should I sleep? Any suggestions? First time to Europe, does it show?

a really good website:
http://www.iti.fr/$www-OGrQxRcTCFlTKs0AKxxOHgaL7Vc-ADZUWQ.iti$/accueil.hei?switch.direct=accueil

It's in French but if you type in Murcia in depart and Almeria in arrivee, you'll get a driving route, time, estimated cost of gasoline, tolls, etc.(VALIDER means 'submit') Looks like about 3 1/2 hours (get a Michelin map - they are excellent and will help you plot out the route using the above website).

I'm not clear where your layover occurs, so if it is between the time you land in Gatwick and leave from Heathrow, you won't have 6 hours. The travel time between the airports is a couple of hours; you can get the Speedlink bus which connects the airport and nap on it; or, for more money, hire a car and driver to pick you up and take you to Heathrow and you can sleep in the car. You won't have enough time to find a hotel room near the airport and make it back for your flight (you need to be at the check in 2 hours before flight time - or even earlier if security is tightened)
Wowie, zowie, Elvira, what a URL! Actually I got a result with only www.iti.fr - - but if anyone is intimidated by the French use www.euroshell.com - - all in English.

Your site has the nice advantage of showing all the tolls (peages). The Euroshell has (somewhat useful) "zoom-able" (click) maps.

Oh, and I just now noticed - - your www.iti.fr site does have a little Union Jack - - taking you to an all-English interface. nice find, your highness!

The only little problem, Elvira and Rex, is that driving times in Spain given by the sites you mention (and also www.cwlease.com for that matter) appear to be way overestimated. If one uses the official Spanish site (www.dgt.es - Direccion General de Trafico), one would get: route: N340 and N344; distance 229km; time: 2h 07min. This looks much better (the cwlease site gives 212km and 3h 08min)!!! I just hope that Spaniards are better in estimating driving times in their country than foreigners
Paulo
