Did anyone visit LesGobelins?
I have this on our "must do" list. Has anyone taken the tour? Do we need reservations to take the tour? Any information you have, I'd appreciate before I fax them directly. Thanks.

Because no one else has responded, I will give you some information. In February, I went there with a friend who is very interested in tapestries; I am not. We arrived (on Bus 27, Les Gobelins stop) before the tour time, but there were already too many people, and they would not accept more. Last week, she tried again and succeeded. The tour was about 1 1/2 hours long, in French. She thought it good, not extraordinary.

Boots, thanks for answering. Do you recall if tours are every day or only on one day (Tuesday?)? I thought I read the tour begins at 2PM. Does that sound reasonable? Thanks again.

Kathy,
Please tell me what and where this is (I thought I knew it all about Paris, by now, in preparation for an upcoming trip). Thanks,

cdc
Kathy, I think the tours are at 2 p.m. (be there a little early) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you don't want to take the bus, there is a métro stop nearby: Gobelins. For CDC: Gobelins still manufactures tapestries "the old-fashioned way." It is located at 42, avenue des Gobelins in the 13th. Though I lived across from the place one semester, this is all I know about it. Boots
