DFW to CDG for $1300 - reasonable?
Leaving Saturday the 30th of June returning Saturday the 14th of July. Is this normal? Should I wait and see if prices go down??
|
that is what i paid this year for same date from chicago
i usually pay 900 to 1200 each summer....but fuel prices and route cuts....it doesnt suprise me that we paid more this year and i dont expect it to go down from here.....not for a july date |
wow, that's a terrible price. I thought you were advertising a bargain business class fare.
|
That's a little cheaper tha anything I could find on sidestep.com, farechase.com, itasoftware.com (although I didn't use the 30-day search), or onetravel.com
Will that fare go down? Unfortunately, nobody can predict that for sure..if they could, everyone would be waiting. |
I think it's typical for this year if it is nonstop or only one stop. Those are the same fares I find for the east coast, and DFW is a lot farther away.
|
Is that including taxes and fees?
Is it possible to leave on a different day? |
Weekend travel in coach for a popular route to Europe at the height of summer season. Hm...
$1,300 does seem high, but I am not sure you'll find anything much cheaper. |
The "problem" is, of course, the "market" you are in, i.e., DFW to anywhere and the amount of competition on that route.
It isn't as if you were traveling from somewhere like New York or even Dulles where there are a lot more airlines flying to Paris. |
If you go to www.itasoftware.com and choose the "month long" serach feature and then input Jun 30 as the starting date you'll see that fares range from $1423 to $1429 for the entire month of July.

Hi M,
You are going in high season. That's about what you can expect. If you could change to after Labor Day, you would save about $500 pp. See www.mobissimo.com and www.kayak.com. ((I)) |
I traveled from PHX-DFW-CDG on American for $1300 during the same time frame last year. You might want to switch your dates by a day or two to see if you can knock off $100 here or there?
|
As everyone says, you're in high season and flying on a weekend. BUT if there is anyway to move your plans up about a month, Lufthansa just announced fares of, for ex, DFW - FRA for $351 OW (IAH - FRA is only $276). Have to start travel by 5/15 and return by 6/17.
|
Normal high season price. You might be able to get cheaper by cutting the trip into two distinct pieces -- such as DFW-JFK + JFK-CDG
|
I'm reading your post, shortly after doing a post of my own titled "Sticker shock" - I think this year airfares are just higher and sales difficult to find. I am finding fares of $1500 and up for the dates / cities I wanted (ATL to MXP then BCN to ATL) "I feel your pain"
