Deutsche Bahn: Purchasing a Group Fare Ticket Online

My husband and I are taking our parents to Germany/Austria next spring for a family trip. As we will be a group of at least 6, I am hoping to be able to purchase the following discount for the little bit of train travel we will do:

Gruppe & Spar 70 – a 70% discount is available for purchases 14 days in advance

I have been looking at train schedules (www.bahn.de) as I plan our trip, and I cannot determine how I would go about booking this special fare online. I was hoping someone on Fodors might be able to help.

Hi logos,
Thank you so much for the info. Do you know where I would pick up the ticket? Also, how far in advance should I plan to book? 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, etc?

Hi TA,

Before calling Germany, you might want to call the Euraide office in FL and see if they can get you the fare.

>Also, how far in advance
As soon as possible. (When you know your travel dates.) Just has to be inside the validity period of the current timetable. They change twice a year. You can find out when exactly, if you try to buy a ticket online for travel on a certain date. If that date is possible you can also get group tickets calling the number I gave you.

They will mail the tickets to your home address.

Hi ira and logos,
Thank you both for the helpful information. If we can get the group savings it will be very helpful to some of our parents as they have been saving for over a year for this "trip of a lifetime".
I will post back with the results once I have our exact dates nailed down and attempt to get the group ticket.
