At this late date, I would go on www.venere.com and plug in dates with location to see what is available. You can also try www.tripadvisor.com and see if there is anything available there. There are many wonderful hotels that are not necessarily in Piazza Navona so check out other areas. Just make sure that there is A/C-gets very hot in July!

We stayed at a bed and breakfast in March which is about 10 steps away from Piazza Navona. You walk out the door, turn left, and 10 steps later you are in the middle of Piazza Navona.
The name is Relais al Senato. Their website is www.alsenato.it. This is a beautiful place located on the 2nd floor of a very nice building with an elevator. The rooms are large for Rome and are beautifully decorated. Plenty of closet and drawer space. The bathrooms are very large - with a walk in shower with a rainfall fixture, vessel sink and granite counter. Everything is spotlessly clean. Rooms are airconditioned. Breakfast is served starting at 8:00 a.m. and consists of juice, cappuccino, espresso, yogurt, pastry, cereal, milk, fruit (bananas, apples, etc.). The staff were very kind and helpful - and spoke fluent English. We were able to negotiate price from the prices listed on their website. We were very happy with this bed and breakfast and we would not hesitate to return. Good luck! |
Thank you both for your information, we are booked and found your information to be very helpful.

have just returned from an 11 day cruise on the Celebrity Solstice and am staying at the Rafael Hotel on the quiet back street (the equivalent of 1/2 block off Piazza Navona). It is a quaint, beautiful hotel. Good luck.

Beautiful hotel but very expensive for most people. However, for those of us with limited income it is a wonderful place to have a drink on the roof with the fabulous view!

Residenza Navona First is a nice place....not only do they get good reviews on Trip Advisor, but guests of mine that have personally used them were all quite happy. July is mid-low season so you're sure to get a good deal, and the owners are lovely people. The B&B itself is comfortable, cozy, and has important things like a/c and free wifi in some rooms (others have access to a communal terrace).
Another option if you're on a budget is apartment renting, since it's more for the money and actually gives you a level of freedom and a homey feeling you may not otherwise have. When friends and family come to visit me I almost always direct them to www.leisureinrome.com because they take care of my people well, have always been professional, and they have a great selection of apartments. Normally they take 3 night rentals, but a couple apartments they run specials on will do 2 nighters, and it never hurts to ask! |
jejacob1,
How was your trip on the Solstice as we will be going on board for a cruise on the 17th. Any advice, also how did you transport from the port to Rome. Thanks, Rich |
