DESPERATE - TIMES RUNNING OUT. Need to reserve hotel in Sorrento

Hello,
I'll be leaving for Italy pretty soon . I have just one small part of my trip that I need to secure with a hotel.

I'm looking for a moderately priced hotel to stay at in Sorrento.( Italy - of course )
My budgets between $100 -$150 I'm open to any of your suggestions. Thanks a lot !
Oh, if you have web addresses that'll be great

Hi

Have you done a text search for "Sorento and Hotel"?

cemcem Aug 29th, 2003 04:31 AM

Hi ira,
You know I have, ira, but there's so much info to research and some of the sites don't give the hotels web adddress. Some you can't even look at pictures of the rooms.

I just figured that you can't beat someones first hand advice . I love starting with peoples recommendations off of this forum.
Thanks for the reply,ira

Hi Cemcem,

I meant did you search here for "Sorrento and Hotel". It will give you te recommendations from folks who have already been there.

I haven't stayed there, but I remember reading posts about IL NIDO here on the forum. It should be within your budget.

We're staying at Il Nido on the advice of my parents who loved it and said it was one of the friendliest places they ever stayed at. The price is right. Take a look at their website; it's pretty comprehensive. If you send them an e-mail, Gianni will respond in less than 24 hours. Good luck.

It's too bad you can't splurge a little more, because La Grand Hotel Cocumella is absolutely lovely. Who knows....they could always be offering a last minute deal?

I share your problem cemcem. I have searched as well and I find dozens of posts about very expensive hotels in Sorrento, quite a few recommendations for places way out from the center (requiring transportation back and forth), and a number for really cheap places that don't sound like anywhere I'd like to stay (like the place I stayed in last time there). But I don't seem to find any recommendations that really thrill me in the same price range you mention. I'm sure they exist.

I am staying at La Tonnarella in Late Sept, 150.00e per night w/breakfast for two. I booked months ago, but you never know, you could get lucky, heres the website latonnarella.it Good luck

We stayed at the Hotel La Tonnarella in Sorrento. It is lovely. They have a restaurant--it wasn't open when we were there. It's on the curve just outside of town on a hill overlook the bay. Lovely rooms and lovely spot. You might try there. It's on the web.

I know about 3 couples who adore La Tonnarella. http://www.latonnarella.com/

They all consider it a real find. It's in your price range.

Wow, three recommendations for one place in a span of four minutes!! Could any of you tell me how far out of town this is? Need a car? Take a bus? Can you just stroll into the center, or is the road too "dangerous" to walk or too far?
I can't believe a website that doesn't give any indication of prices, by the way. I know it was stated above that it was 150 euro in late September, but in season? And for a view or balcony room?

marymac Aug 29th, 2003 10:03 AM

Patrick, I have a double room, with sea view terrace 150/e night. I believe it is High season.
